Diamonds and Drums

After having the funniest guy in Europe, it’s time to know a little bit more from a real cool and funny character of the MTB scene, Jordie Lunn. Same questions for him, different answers. Jordie is Canadian, and as mainly all canadians i know, he’s super chilled living. With his diamonds, pimp style, Jordie has definitely a style on his own on the scene. Find out more on him after the drop, all pics by Joakim Andreassen…

When did you become a pro ?
Became “pro” when I was about 17.
What were the biggest changes in life turning pro ?
Becoming a pro rider I had to try to take riding a bit more seriously, but i still try to keep things fun and casual.
How do you train ?
I train by riding alot. I also mix it up with swimming, running, road riding, hockey and the occasional workout in the gym.
Can you describe a normal day of your life ?
Wake up around 9, go for a run before breakfast. Depending on the day either go to hockey or to the pool around noon. Then ride either dirt, park or DH from 3 till dark.
Can you please briefly sum up your season ?
My season usually involves some contests, coaching at SGC, and filming for Barred For Life and Antonym.
What are you focused on for next year ? Any changes ? Sponsors ?
My season will be pretty standard for 2010. Focusing mainly on my film parts. I also hope to get to a few select races.
What are you up to for this winter ?
This winter i’ll be training alot… Maybe snowboard a bit. Hopefully get in a good Cali trip again.
What are you doing when you’re not on you bike ?
When im not on my bike i’m usually chilling, watching tv , or out at the pool or playing hockey.
What kind of music do you listen to ?
I generally listen to alot of hip hop and rap music. But i enjoy pretty much all music there is.
What was your dream when you were a kid ? Did you succeed ?
When I was in 1st grade we made a time capsule which were buried near the school. The capsules were dug up when we graduated high school. To my surprise mine said “when i grow up I want to be a pro bike racer”. So i guess i did succeed!
Which skills do you think are recquired to be a top-level athlete ?
To be a top level athlete you have to have some exceptional skills, as well as
alot of focus and determination.
Are there some people who helped you along your career and now you would like to thank or put the spotlights on ?
The two people that helped me most in my carreer would have to be my parents. They got me my first, I dunno, 10 or so bikes, as well as took me to races and events for years. If it weren’t for them I wouldnt be riding bikes.
Thanks to Vincent Saccomani from lowfibicycleclub.com for the interview with Jordie.
